A FLUID SYSTEM MANUFACTURER THAT UNDERSTANDS THE LIFE SCIENCE INDUSTRY

When working in the life science industry, it’s important your equipment is methodically designed with your system needs in mind. Even small contaminants can cause problems in sensitive instrumentation. MK Fluidics ensure that all our components are thoroughly cleaned, well handled, and quickly packaged to prevent contamination. Whether dealing with injections or sample transfer our products can meet your performance requirements.

At MK Fluidic Systems, our extensive experience makes it easy to collaborate with us to design and engineer all of your custom fluid handling component needs. By working with MK Fluidic Systems and selecting quality components, you ensure that your equipment performs safely, accurately, and confidently.

LIFE SCIENCE FLUID SYSTEM PRODUCTS

SYRINGES

We offer a broad range of syringe designs and seal configurations for many applications. We utilize high-purity borosilicate glass and fluoropolymers in our wetted materials to the ensure precision, accuracy, and cleanliness of each sample injection. When dealing in applications such a flow cytometry the smooth flow of cells is particularly important. The smooth actuation of a syringe pump is often the most suitable solution for such requirements. With injection volumes of 10µL to 50mL our products can meet your dispensing requirements.

VALVES

Available in loop, switching, and distribution configurations, our valves are capable of meeting your system specifications. Rotary/Switching valves in particular can be very useful in applications where pulsation from valve actuation is best avoided. Improve the purity of your flow path by utilizing inert materials such as PTFE, PCTFE, PFA, UHMW-PE, and PEEK.

TUBING & FITTINGS

We offer flanged and flangeless fittings with our tubing sets and can accommodate custom requests for life science applications. Fittings are available in both flat-bottom and cone-tipped designs. All can be sold separately or assembled to fit your specifications.

NEEDLES, PROBES, & PIPETTES

These critical components of the sample flow-path are responsible for transferring the sample between the vial and instrument inlet. Consistent injection volumes and minimized carryover are critical for reliable results.

COMMON LIQUID HANDLING SYSTEM APPLICATIONS FOR LIFE SCIENCE PRODUCTS

Flow Cytometry

Flow cytometry is the process of examining a sample containing cells or particles suspended in fluid. This sample is focused to ideally flow one cell at a time through a narrow flow path which is monitored either with a laser beam or high power optics. Cells are often labeled with fluorescent markers, aiding in the quick examination of tens of thousands of cells. Smooth flow is of particular importance with newer systems which direct image the cells rather than relying on the diffracted laser light. Syringe pumps are a very effective mechanism for achieving this smooth flow.

Molecular Diagnostics

A collection of techniques, molecular diagnostics, is used to analyze biological markers in the genome. Tests are typically performed to determine whether or not patients have a gene mutation associated with a specific disease, either as an inherited or an acquired mutation. Inherited diseases can be tested for at the prenatal, newborn and adult stages of life.

Genome Sequencing

Genome sequencing has largely been used as a research tool but was being introduced to clinics in 2014. With continuous advancements in the technology, genome sequencing will become a more important part of future therapies.
